 COMMERCIAL PILOT TRAINING PROGRAM

 

COURSE REQUIREMENTS  

The minimum age to qualify for the Commercial Pilot License is eighteen.

A Private Pilot License
(if you do not have this the two courses may be taken consecutively).

You must receive a Class 1 aviation medical from a
Transport Canada approved medical examiner.

GROUNDSCHOOL

The commercial pilot ground school is a minimum of 40 hours
and consists of a three stage program.
They include the following:

Tutorial and supervised home study using course material supplied by the school. Instructor supervision is on an on going basis and is provided to assist in any problem areas and to organize subject material.

Sample questions for each of the four subject areas. These questions help you learn and indicate areas were extra study is required. Instructor assistance to complete these questions is provided.

Practice exams after completion of the ground school material. You will be required to successfully write a minimum of two practice exams before being recommended to write the Transport Canada exam.

The written exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions. You must obtain a pass mark of 60% for each of the four subject areas. You may re-write all or part of the exam, as required.

FLIGHT TRAINING

The flying experience requirement for the Commercial Pilot License is
200 hours total time of which 100 hours must be pilot-in-command.
The flight training requirement is a minimum of 65 hours
of which 35 hours is dual and 30 hours solo.

Commercial pilot training involves the upgrading of basic skills learned
during your private pilot training along with more advanced exercises.
As part of the commercial course you will also receive 20 hours of
instrument training and night flying certification.

As a part of the 100 hours solo flight experience requirement you must
complete a 300 mile cross-country flight with two stopovers enroute.

Mountain Flying 5 hours

Multi-Engine Rating 5-10 hours

Instrument Rating 40 hours *

Includes total accumulated instrument experience.
